Malta has a small but thriving gay community made up of both Maltese and foreign residents. There is a wide selection of clubs and bars in the Paceville and St Julians areas, but only a few cater specifically to LGBT patrons.
The oldest gay bar in Malta is Tom bar in Floriana, a suburb of Valletta. Located on Crucifix Hill, the bar was recently refurbished and has two floors.
“P-Lounge”, a chilled-out, a laid back venue is upstairs. Downstairs is louder, with a dance floor and DJ (there is a house DJ at Tom Bar).
Klozet club is a pumping venue open for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender revelers on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue is popular with a young crowd wanting to party hard. Nearby you’ll find Adam and Eve Hotel, Malta’s only gay hotel which has a popular bar and Oriental Patio. The bar is open to non-residents.
If you want a change of pace, O Bar and Spa are situated in the heart of Paceville in St Georges Bay. Strictly men-only, the bar is open on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to the bar, there’s also a men-only sauna.
