Gay Travel Queenstown

This popular resort town on New Zealand’s south island seems pretty close to some definitions of paradise. You’ll travel halfway around the world to a tiny hamlet surrounded by mountains and the crystal water of Lake Wakatipu. The appropriately named Remarkables mountains sit stoically across the lake, a saw-toothed range that suggests the infinite outdoor opportunities available here.

There’s also plenty to do in Gay Queenstown, which is a huge center for gay and lesbian adventure travel and tourism – it didn’t earn the reputation of being the Adventure Capital of the World for nothing! This is the town that invented Bungy and spearheaded the sustainable tourism movement. Get outside, enjoy the majestic environment and go bungee, skydiving, mountain climbing, skiing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, cycling, sailing, hiking, hang gliding, parapenting, or a dozen more adventures.

If you’re in the mood for something more serene, take a cruise on the lake with the TSS Earnslaw, a coal-fired steamship that’s nearly 100 years old. Or find out why Queenstown and nearby Arrowtown are known as wine and culinary centers. There are 150 eateries in Queenstown alone, all accessible by foot. Hop on the Connectabus to explore a little further afoot, or rent a camper van and make Queenstown just one stop on a more extensive tour of New Zealand’s South Island.
