Gay Montreal The City of Design

This French-speaking city at the confluence of Saint Lawrence and Ottawa rivers offers plenty for the senses.  In 2006, UNESCO honored Montreal’s design community by naming it a City of Design, one of only three in the world. Stunning architecture is everywhere, from the 19th century bank headquarters along Saint James Street to the buildings for Expo 67 as well as on display in the city’s spectacular myriad churches. Of the city’s many churches, St. Joseph’s Oratory stands out as the largest in Canada and features the second-largest copper dome in the world, right behind St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Gay Montreal is also a young city. The city boasts the highest concentration of post-secondary schools in all of North America, with at least six universities and 12 junior colleges in a five-mile radius. As befitting a city of its diversity and culture, Montreal has plenty of interesting places to stay from unique bed & breakfast inns and hostels to the large luxury resorts and world class hotels.

Sutton
If you are an active gay traveler Sutton is the destination for you. Located about one hour away from Montreal, this is the perfect place for outdoor activities. At Mont Sutton, you will find Quebec’s 3rd largest ski resort, with incredible glade for skiers and boarders. Avoiding the weekends and spring break weeks you will make you feel like you have the mountain to yourself.
If you are planning a trip during the summer, you will also be able to enjoy Sutton’s stunning landscape. There are more than 50 miles of well-marked hiking trails for beginners and experts. Most of the trails start at the ski hill parking lot. The village is also a popular destination with cyclists.
Despite being a gay-friendly destination and offering some gay friendly resorts and hotels, there is not a defined gay scene in Sutton. If you are looking for a truly gay club scene, you will find it in Montreal.
