1Gay Travel Belize
Belize has been flourishing as an international destination, which has created a growing industry to support the influx of visitors. And rather than being spoiled by the increased interest, the country has remained committed to the sustainable tourism that attracted visitors away from other Central American countries in the first place.
As the only Central American country without a Pacific coast, Belize capitalizes on the glorious azure waters of its Caribbean coastlines. Diving the Belize Barrier Reef, snorkeling amidst the coral, and appreciating the sunset on a white sand beach gives way seamlessly to the jungles of the interior, with magnificent Mayan ruins, jungle treks and canopy tours.
English is also the official language of Belize, simplifying travel throughout the country. The primary means of public transportation are old school buses repurposed from America. Catch the buses at terminals in Belize City, or flag them down on the road everywhere else. It’s relatively inexpensive to rent a car, which is recommended if you are seeking a more independent – and reliable – means of transportation.
Quick note on safety: Belize is still very much a conservative democracy, and public displays of affection of all kinds are generally discouraged. Some will be shocked by gay PDA, so be discreet and mindful of the country’s attitudes.
